Why is it that on the days you need to get things done, it seems every favorite movie of yours is ont TV?? And by favorites, I mean those movies that you are compelled to watch, no matter when it is on, or what part of the movie it is at, no matter how many times you may have seen said movie, you.must.watch.it.
Today, it happened to me.
But let's back it up, shall we?
The day started off like any other weekday. Alarm goes off, slam the snooze button. Big Sis comes in and snuggles for a while. We get up and I help Big Sis get ready for school. Baby girl is still sleeping after Hubby and Big Sis are gone, so I figure I'd check e-mail and get a WHOLE lot done.
What is that saying about well laid plans??
Baby girl (who is actually 4 years old) gets up and shuffles into the kitchen where I am. It's now 9 am.
Somehow, I find myself snuggling with Baby Girl on the couch. It's so hard not to -- it's like a magnetic pull. So, after a while, I get up and glance at the clock.
11:35. Perfect.
Okay, so I'm up and busy now. I don't even bother getting dressed, that's how busy I am. But that's not unusual for me. I'm making phone calls, and finishing the Christmas decorating all while doing laundry and keeping Baby Girl entertained. While doing the laundry, I turn the TV on. 'The Devil Wears Prada' is on. Love this movie! Read the book and loved it too. I leave it on to pass the time, as it's almost over. Load is finished, so is the movie. I check the TV listings and there it is.
'Field of Dreams.' GOD I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! So naturally, I am compelled to watch it. It's 2/3 through anyway, so I drink it in. I have some sewing to do anyway.
Okay, movie is over, sewing is done. I reallllllly need to get to house cleaning and whatnot, but I find myself checking the TV listings again.
Dagnab it! 'Legends of the Fall' is on. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME???? I have so much work to do! I watch about 20 minutes of it, and snap out of it. TV off, there is work to be done!
It's getting close to the time when Big Sis gets home on the school bus, so I make sure the garage door is open for her. About the time she should be waltzing in, I get a phone call. It's the dentist office calling about making our cleaning appointments. I'm on the phone with them, when the call waiting beeps and I see that it's Big Sis's school. I switch over, and it's the school secretary.
"Lisa, this is Secretary from School. Big Sis is fine, it's just that she missed the bus. Can you come and pick her up?"
Looking down at my pj's, I say "Sure. Be right there." So I make our dentist appointments, rush to get dressed, and race up to school.
In an hour, I must drive both girls to swim class. After that, I have plans to meet friends for dinner, so Hubby says he'll be home early. Dinner is at 7, Hubby usually gets home at 6:30, so I imagine he'll be home by 6.
Swimming class comes and goes, and I'm anxious to get home and head to an adult dinner with my friends. I have on a cute pair of jeans, so I plan on changing my top, add accessories, etc. When the girls are done, we head into one of the bathrooms so they can change, as well as go potty. I am helping Big Sis change, and Baby Girl goes potty.
Now, I must explain that Baby Girl has an aiming problem. She pees like a racehorse, and when she does, it doesn't always just go down. Sometimes it goes out. See where I'm going with this?
Spots of piddle on my jeans. Perfect.
So now we're home, and I change my entire outfit (thanks Baby Girl!), and the girls are playing until Hubby gets home. He calls and says he's leaving, be home soon. I estimate his time of arrival at 6:30. Plenty of time to get to the restaurant.
And it just keeps getting better ...
